San Diego Unified: More Scandals and Lawsuits
Help Me WIN to Get the Focus Back on Our Students!
Sep 4, 2024
San Diego Unified made headlines again last week with sustained allegations that Superintendent Dr. Lamont Jackson engaged in sexual harassment against two former employees. This news comes just 3 weeks after the federal government found 253 cases of sexual harassment claims by students and staff, between 2017 and 2020, were either improperly investigated or not investigated at all. This points to a toxic culture in the 2nd largest school district in CA. The district tried to avoid accountability by responding to the federal investigation with "that's not our current leadership".
But, they can't say the same now.

The current Board Trustees announced on Friday that they and the Superintendent "mutually agreed that separation is in the best interest of the district". The Trustees say they are committed to transparency. Yet, despite legitimate, legally documented cause for termination, Jackson was let go "without cause" allowing him to receive 6 months of severance, according to his contract.
Severance costing the district $216,000 which could fund 3 or 4 teacher or paraeducator salaries! What kind of message is the San Diego Unified Board of Trustees sending students when they reward bad behavior?
School boards are responsible to evaluate and monitor the Superintendent and to make sound budget decisions. When elected, I will be committed to transparency, accountability, and putting students first. Our students and teachers deserve safety AND excellence in academics.
I have solutions.
I bring leadership experience with complex budgets
and board governance.
I bring education experience as a professor in the classroom.
And, I'm a parent of 3 kids who attend SDUSD schools and
I see the daily challenges students face.
Our students need leaders who put them first.
I need your continued help!
Thank you for all your support so far...
